How do you get to Waalwijk and where do you park?

Waalwijk lies in North Brabant, in the De Langstraat area, and can be reached by car via the A59 and the N261. The town has no railway station; you travel by bus to the Vredesplein bus station, a ten-minute walk from the Raadhuisplein (town hall square). There are paid car parks around the centre, and on Sundays you can park there without paying.

Where exactly is Waalwijk?

Waalwijk lies in the province of North Brabant, between Drunen and Raamsdonk, and belongs to the De Langstraat region9. The nearest large cities are Tilburg, 's-Hertogenbosch and Breda. That is why the town centre management calls the town a handy base "right between" those three4.

How do you get to Waalwijk by car?

The A59 runs past Waalwijk and links it with 's-Hertogenbosch and with the Hooipolder interchange towards Breda. From Tilburg you drive along the N26189.

Allow for this month's closure. From Friday evening 16 October at 21.00 until Monday morning 26 October 2026 at 05.00, the A59 is closed between Waalwijk and Oosterhout towards Rotterdam, and between the Hooipolder interchange and Waalwijk towards 's-Hertogenbosch. The A27 slip roads at Hooipolder are closed too56. The Schoenenkwartier says it remains accessible as normal during the works7.

How do you get to Waalwijk by public transport?

Waalwijk has no railway station. The Lage Zwaluwe - 's-Hertogenbosch railway had a station in Waalwijk from 1886 to 1950; that line has gone and in many places has become a cycle path9.

So you take the train to Tilburg or 's-Hertogenbosch and change to the bus there. According to the Schoenenkwartier, lines 300 and 301, among others, run to the Vredesplein bus station, a ten-minute walk from the museum on the Raadhuisplein7. Where do you park in Waalwijk town centre?

In the centre, paid parking applies from Monday to Saturday from 09.00 to 18.00, and on Friday (late-night shopping) until 21.0012. On Sunday, parking therefore falls outside those hours; Welkom in Wolluk also reports that parking is free on all Sundays3.

According to the municipality's tariff list, parking costs €1.10 an hour. A day ticket costs €8.00, or €3.50 on the Taxandriaweg1. You can pay by debit card or via mobile parking. If you do not want to pay anything, Welkom in Wolluk points to the car park on the Heulstraat, about 300 metres from the centre3.

Can you get to Waalwijk by bike or by boat?

By bike it is easy; the cycle junction network runs through the whole region. In the centre you can park your bike for free in the bicycle shed at the De Els shopping centre, De Els 44G. The shed is open from Monday to Friday from 8.30 to 18.00 and on Saturday from 8.30 to 17.007. You can also borrow a wheelchair free of charge at that shed8.

Over the water, you reach the region via the Bergsche Maas. Bezoek de Langstraat mentions marinas in Sprang-Capelle and Waspik, among others8.
